VNA of Staten Island's Early Intervention Program is funded and regulated by the New York State Department of Health and, in New York City, by the New York City Department of Mental Health, Mental Retardation and Alcoholism Services. 

Our Early Intervention Program

VNASI’s Early Intervention Professionals specialize in child development and will provide a free, at-home evaluation of your child.  Our specialists will evaluate your child’s:

Early Intervention Program services include the following:

  • Free multi-disciplinary evaluation to determine eligibility;

  • Development of an Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP) for each eligible child and family;

  • Provision of the Early Intervention services identified in the IFSP free of cost to the family;

  • Delivery of Early Intervention services in natural settings (home, day care centers, family day care);

  • Screening and tracking of children at risk for developmental delays and/or disabilities;

  • Home visits;

  • Family training;

  • Counseling;

  • Parent support groups;

  • Special education/instruction;

  • Speech pathology;

  • Occupational therapy;

  • Physical therapy;

  • Psychological services;

  • Service coordination;

  • Skilled nursing;

  • Nutrition services;

  • Social work services;

  • Vision services;
